    Scolnick passed away

I have heard a couple of times that Dr. Joe Scolnick passed away last night in his sleep of a massive heart attack...does anyway else know if this is true? A buddy of mine said that he didn't come to class this morning so they all left....if it is true, it sure is a sad day @ UVA-Wise

If you find out more, let us know.
I hope that's not the case and just a rumor
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

    Re: Scolnick passed away

I am in his class right now.. He always gave us these quotes on how to push ourselves to be our best... He cared about each of his students... and this is truly a sad day... I was scheduled to have a test tommorow but I doubt this will happen now.. He will be deeply missed by all....

I had his class Tuesday and he was telling us about him helping some of his former students.. by giving advice and such.. a very smart man.. He will be missed for his teaching and for just being a good person...

    Re: Scolnick passed away

It is a very sad day. He was a good man, with a good heart. Teaching to him wasn't a job, it was more than books, it was as much about teaching people to enjoy themselves and life. I never had him as a teacher, but due to other classes, heard several of his lectures (he did have a loud voice). Had some conversations with him at the comic shop about movies and wrestling, he was a good man and as far as I know, had a good heart and at least I think, he lived his life his way, and was happy, that's about all we can ask for.

    Re: Scolnick passed away

I have lived here since 89 and have known Prof. Scolnick that whole time...I hung around the library since my dad worked there, and Scolnick was always in there. We saw him out eating Saturday, Dad talked to him for a little while. Dad has known him since he has been there, which I like forever. He said it was a sad day at the college.
I was married by a judge. I should have asked for a jury.

He spoke in the same tone and had the same speaking mannerisms as Howard Cossell. Scolly's voice was deeper but its remarkable how much they spoke alike.
